Okay, so here’s my first-ever roll of film. First of all, I love shooting film. And, I especially love shooting film on a camera straight out of the 70s. I just got these back and, I have to say, I didn’t do an awful job. I shot fully manual (for the most part) and was surprised at the outcome. Shooting film has been frustrating: I can’t see how my shots turned out immediately, I don’t know if I screwed something up, and I never know if I just threw away 50 cents by taking a less-than-satisfactory shot. I was genuinely concerned because someone opened the back of the camera and exposed the film (hence so many light leaks), but I am grateful to the Lord that not all was lost (talk about wasting money).

Some were duds, some we stunning, and mostly all were on UA’s campus. But regardless, I wanted to share this first roll with you all. I hope you enjoy the sights of the Capstone.

Specs: Fujifilm Superia X-TRA 400 Color Film. Developed and processed at Indie Film Lab in Montgomery, AL. No professional lab corrections were made.

These stained glass shots were taken at a Methodist church in Birmingham back in March.

Definitely not my favorite, but had some potential. Maybe if I reframed this a little it would be more interesting.

Now onto the beloved University of Alabama. The quad on a summer day. Could have made this more interesting, but I was playing around here.

Okay, I love this shot. I think maybe this was one that was on fully automatic. The camera metered to the sun and not the environment, but it gives a really cool effect. Unless my eyes are deceiving me, I believe we're looking at Carmichael.

Truthfully, I love the light leaks on these. I hate that it happened, but it gives a neat effect (go film!). This is a neat shot of the bridge from a different perspective.

Micah Dorsey! What a guy. I'm so glad the light leak ruined the right side of the frame and not the left. It almost gives a mysterious feel to it. I adore this shot.

There was a lovely sunset that I'm glad wasn't completely ruined.

This shot is so interesting to me. I think I misfired here. But, the result is still quite awesome. The burn gives a neat effect.

I love this shot. Hate the burn. I'm going to go and retake this shot today.

Wow this is a lovely shot of the President's Mansion. I hope Dr. Bell was okay with me in his lawn.

No joke––this is my favorite door on our campus. It's beautiful for portraits. I don't particularly love this shot, but it was a cool idea in the moment.

Gorgas house through the fence. Not as cool as I was hoping for, but still a decent shot.

Love the colors! Love the sky! This is the back of the Gorgas House.

This is such a lovely shot. I took this one and the next one, thinking I messed this one up. But honestly I prefer this shot over the next. This would be great in Black and White.

This is the nicest random clock we have on campus. Of course the business students get to see it. Anywho, it was 2:22 pm for those of you who can't read analog.

Love the lens flare on this. Exposed well, too.

Can I shoot level? I dunno. I'd consider this was waste of 50 cents too. But I'll take the time here to say I love the green color. Indie did a great job scanning these and getting accurate colors from the negatives.

At this point, I was trying so hard to finish the roll. But I do love this shot.
